Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home, Stella Sander

sugar, concrete, glass, ceramic, acrylic paint, 40x40x40cm

The piece is part of a series of sculptural work, experimenting with alternative building materials. It emphasizes the pain which sugar produces to the human body and at the same time the damage modern architecture causes to nature, due to excessive sand use for concrete production. The lack of detail suggests a cold blandness which stands for pure functionality rather than a warm, welcoming exterior. This suggests a personal expression in which nature and the incalculable have no room.
