Stella Sander is an interdisciplinary artist with emphasis on fine art photography, based in Berlin.
Her work attempts to capture the nature of transitoriness, often of architectural and domestic structures as well as in motives she finds in nature, investigating the contradicting interaction of humankind as part of it. Added to the romanticizing and distorted perception are often elements of collage and drawing, applied within the photograph and manipulated in photoshop. Poetry by Edgar Allen Poe, William Blake and Freudian psychology as well as the Bauhaus movement serve as an inspiration.
After a full time contemporary dance training in Munich (Jessica Iwanson), Paris (Ecole de Dance Bertin) , New York (Merce Cunningham) and extensive professional experience as a dancer, an acting dimploma from the Lee Strasberg Studio in London and award winnig acting, performance art and art film experience followed. She received a certificate in studies of Modern Art History from the City Lit and in in art dealership and curatorship in 2000. Working as an art galerist at Hoax at the Lux, curator and promoter, freelance art dealer (artagencyint.) and consultant for Flowers East and Britart.com, she moved after 20 years of living and working mostly in London but also in New York to Berlin. In her house and studio near Berlin, she has been working as an artist since 2005 and has been an active Member of the local Green Party since 2008.
Her work has been exhibited in solo and group shows at various venues in London and in and around Berlin including Hoax, Gallery 102, Mercstudios at Art Miami and was shortlisted for the award at QQ Art Gallery Düsseldorf.
Stella Sander lebt und arbeitet in Berlin und beschäftigt sich hauptsächlich mit Fotografie. Sie versucht das fotografisch-zeichnerischen Festhalten von gewachsenen, hauptsächlich häuslichen, architektonischen und landschaftlichen Strukturen aber auch Motive die sie in der Natur vorfindet zum Zeitpunkt derer Wandlung und die widersprüchliche Interaktion des Menschen als deren Teil. Die romantisch- verzerrte Wahrnehmung der Vergänglichkeit ist teilweise durch Applikationen von Collage und Zeichnungen und durch Photoshop manipulierten Aufnahmen dargestellt. Die Gedichte von Edgar Allen Poe, William Blake, Freud’sche Psychologie sowie die Bauhaus Bewegung dienen als Inspiration.
Nach einer Ausbildung zur modernen Tänzerin in München (Jessica Iwanson), Paris (Ecole de Dance Bertin), New York (Merce Cunningham) und umfänglichen professionellen Engagements als Tänzerin, einem Diplom im Schauspiel vom Lee Strasberg Studio in London und beruflichen Engagements mit dem Erhalt von Auszeichnungen für Darstellungen in der Filmkunst und Kunstperformance, erhielt sie 2000 ein Zertifikat im Studium Moderner Kunstgeschichte vom City Lit wie im Kunsthandel und als Kuratorin. Sie arbeitete als Galeristin für Hoax at the Lux, als Kuratorin, freiberufliche Kunsthändlerin (artagencyint.) und Promoterin, kollaborierte mit Flowers East and Britart.com, als sie nach 20 Jahren Aufenthalt und Arbeit in London und New York nach Berlin zog. Seit 2005 arbeitet sie in ihrem Haus und Atelier bei Berlin als freischaffende Künstlerin und ist seit 2008 aktives Mitglied der Grünen/B 90.
Ihre Arbeiten wurden in Gruppen –und Einzelausstellungen in internationalen Galerien in Berlin und im Umland wie Galerie 102 und London Hoax Gallery, Mercstudios at Art Miami und war in der engeren Auswahl für den QQ Art Galerie Düsseldorf Kunstpreis.
